At time I always think how some people can be happy & calm during the trying time. Some says try to love what you do, some says don’t focus what you dislike. Some have to keep on going as they have no other ways or option to stop what they are doing. Many people have other thing to say or comment. And this is what I have to say.

Allah swt has given us chance to live once in a lifetime. HE gave us path to choose what we want to do. HE never choose the path for us. We choose them ourselves.

In life things will not always goes your ways. Hence the reasons Allah swt give you brain, like what I keep on reminding myself (although I sometimes forget). And also heart to feel whether is it right or wrong, to balance with your logical thinking and what you feel most that you want to achieve.

In between that the chance to live once in a lifetime with some obstacle in your life where things will never always goes your way, we have to be smart. Smart in sense of what is the best decisions that we have to do at times, considering all other options and other people that might be affected with our decisions. Will it be the best decisions for only yourself or will it also benefit others? It might be easier to make decisions when we are alone, by ourselves, as the only person that we should think of is just you. Things get complicated when it starts to involve other people, parents, if you are married then husband, next the kids and the list can go on.

BUT the best decisions to be made is of course lies in ourselves without being selfish....don’t just think about ourselves!

So I leave it to you and of course Me...to make best use of the brain that Allah swt has given and heart to feel what is best for coming days.

It's been ages since my last entry. Too many happenings arnd me - positive & negative. I juz dunno where to begin with.

More that a year plus has gone by with very minimum progress in my life. By right I shld be thankful that at least things aren't too bad....but it wasn't what I want either. Maybe this is Allah swt way of testing me - to give me a wake up call. Maybe I wasn't strong enough to handle my life.

I wish I could juz pour out my worries, woes & unhappiness here...but I think that this is not right....sighhhhh.....sometime I juz wish I could disappear from all this unhappiness & go to someplace peaceful & quiet. But despite all these, I AM very thankful that I still have my loved ones with me - my Mum, sisters & hubby with me.

Maybe one day I shall pen down my thots....juz not today.

Well, I have failed....

...my deployment test!!!

I took it last Mon after much delay since Dec08. I did my hands-on on cash for the past few days before the test & I was rather confident that I will pass the test. So I was supposed to be at Head Office @ 23rd flr at 4pm sharp to meet BH.

I left JC Branch arnd 3pm & reached Ctr Br arnd 3.30pm. So I went in to meet my colleagues whom I hv missed so much. I could feel the love arnd them...LOL. Met my BM & CSM who both said that I hv loss weight. I don't think so, but I was quite stressed out doing my new role. So I chatted a while with Kenneth, Abg Man, Abg Lan, Soo See, PC, etc...There seems to be a lot of changes - more & more pple are going out of the Branch & some unexpected event that happened. Well, I shall not elaborate on that as its quite personal to those who is going thru it now. Oh yes, I chatted quite a bit with Norin too. She's gonna be transferred out too & at the moment she's handling over her duties to the new girl who's taking over.

Anyway, at 3.55pm I went up to 23rd flr to see BH. I was given a test paper, mind you. And all along I thot that I will be sitting for a practical test on cashiering. I was panicking when I read the Qs. Well, you see, I didn't read my notes...I was merely concentrating on the cash handling only. Little did I realise that the test constitute of every damn thing - TT, CO, CIF maintenance, BCP, etc.....How could I overlooked all those stuff???

Too late to go back so I had to do my best in answering all those Qs. Full marks is 40 - I hope to score at least 20. There are some Qs that I remembered I had went thru before but I simply don't remember the exact name of it. Well, I did my best & I finished the paper at 5.30pm. Handed over the paper to BH & went down to the Branch again to pack up my belongings.

I was talking to Kenneth while packing up my stuffs. It was quite tiring for him nowadays that he's doing most of the stuff that both of us have been doing previously. No new staff is taking over my place or the rest of the staff who's moving on since the bank is not taking in any new employment due to the economic crisis. Its a little hard on him...well Kenneth, all the best to you. I left arnd 7.30pm when my husband came down to pick me up.

So I was told by my CSM today that I hv failed the test & I hv to retake the test next Fri, 27 Feb @ 9am.

The good thing is that BH hv highlighted the area that I hv to work on. And this time round I hv to really buck up so that I will pass the test. So wish me luck.

With close friends and family it is not unusual to think that you ought to take on board everything you hear. However do not confuse caring with knowing. Just because someone is concerned for your welfare does not mean that their advice or input has value.

For example, I know a lot about peak performance. I do not know much about car maintenance. If I ever offer you advice on rebuilding a car engine run as fast as you can! My input would have little or no value. Likewise with friends and family. They may be negative about you, your plans and your opinions simply because they lack the knowledge to think positively about the situation.

Their ignorance causes them to fear for your welfare. Distinguish between caring and the knowledge to offer worthwhile input.

2 Let Go Of Needing Their Approval

I have mentioned this principle many times before because it is so important. As long as you must have the permission, approval and acceptance of your peers you are a victim of their limiting beliefs. You must let go of wanting approval if you are to ever have peace of mind.

3 Eliminate Your Own Negative Thoughts

Often friends reflect back the negatives you quietly hold inside your own mind. If you were 100 per cent positive about your life and your plans it would not matter if people close to you were negative.

In fact their negative comments might even make you laugh because their opinions would seem so absurd to you. You can become more positive by reading books that expand your knowledge and understanding, spending more time with positive, dynamic people and by stretching yourself daily.

By stretching I mean challenging yourself to perform better than your previous best. When you make stretching to be more part of your life, your belief in what is possible grows and grows at a furious pace.

Before long you will not have room for negative thoughts. Choose to find a positive in all things and it quickly becomes a habit that will transform your experience of life.

I am always asking myself:

-- what is good about this?
-- what is great about this?
-- what have I learned from this that makes me stronger?

Ask yourself the right questions and redirect your mind back onto the positive. What else can you do to take charge of even the most difficult conversations?

I would like to add a little knowledge on St Valentine's Day for sharing purposes only & I'm not being judgmental to those who celebrated this day - every person is entitled to his/her personal preferences and tastes...I used to celebrate this day when I was a young ignorant schoolgirl. I guess that's normal as it was considered part of growing up lives. But I no longer celebrate the day since I knew that this day are usually observed by Christian & Christian-influenced cultures.

Valentine's Day or Saint Valentine's Day is an occasion celebrated on Feb 14 by many people throughout the world. In the West, it is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending Valentine's cards, presenting flowers or offering confectionery. The holiday is named after two among the numerous Early Christian martyrs Valentine. However, today holds a special memory for me because exactly 10 years ago today, my lovely husband, Shah officially asked me to be his steady girlfriend. We were both 22. We were schoolmates in school since we were 13 & had been friends then. He was a cheerful, fun-loving guy & I guess we just clicked.

It wasn't love at first sight for me & it actually took me awhile before I realized how much I was in love with him. We somehow got separated after 'O' Level & loss touch then. It was the most miserable period of my life when I wasn't in contact with him.

Well, I guess our sense of love was strong & fate brought us together again after sometime & so since 14 Feb 1999, Shah & I have been an item. It was on this date we decided to take the friendship another step ahead.

Love you Sayang. Here's to the next ten years & many more great years to come....

Salam...

I think I haven't done a proper update on my blog recently. I guess I've been bitten by the lazy bug.

Sigh....Anyway, the long holidays were finally over. No more holidays until the month of April, and that is also just a mere, one day holiday for the whole month! (unless I include in my birthday). I loved December & January - because of the long, long holidays.

I had the longest 'leave' ever last week - a total of 8 days to be exact. Well, it wasn't a happy day okay....I was on MC on 23 Jan (Fri), off on 24 Jan (Sat), 25 Jan is a Sun, 26 Jan & 27 Jan was CNY, another 2 days MC on 28 Jan & 29 Jan & I took leave on 30 Jan. I was on MC due to eye infection (again!!!!).

Oh, btw my FIL was hospitalized again on 1st day of CNY due to some swelling on his kneecap. Anyway, he's is okay now. But the swelling will come again, in due course.

Okay, put the 'sad' part aside...I went for a last minute kinda of picnic with my Mum & Aunt Lilah...I hv uploaded some pics below for u to enjoy....

Its been a while since my entry. First of all, I wish all my Chinese friends/colleagues a Happy Chinese New Year. May this year bring in more prosperity to all of us & happy holiday.

Work updates....

I hv been at JC Br for almost 2 weeks now. I felt that it was the longest 2 weeks ever. So far it has been alright except for some not-able-to-adapt-myself kind of situation. Having stayed in a big branch for the past 11 years, I find its hard to get myself comfortable in a small br like JC. I used to hv my own PC to work with, my own place/locker to keep my personal belongings & not having to share toilets with men!!!! At JC, we hv to share PC & I don't have a place/locker to even put my bag. There is just 2 shelving that we have to shared among 7 of us. As for toilet, there is only ONE miserable cubicle to be shared among ALL staff including the Cisco.

I couldn't except it at first. But I kept telling myself that I hv to since I will be 'stuck' here until whenever.....

The staff here are okay - well, not much comments as I'm still in the stage of getting to know them further. The customers base is not that huge compared to my previous br & most of them are regulars as I saw most of them at least twice on a same day.

Oh, btw my deployment test on 22nd Jan was postponed again as I didn't do any hands-on on the cash. PG (csm) said that as this is a busy period due to CNY, she prefer me not to do any hands-on as she's worried if there's any cash discrepancies. Fine with me...so I guess I'll start my hands-on in February.

CNY Cookies Update...

I went back to Ctr Br on 20th Jan to deliver the cookies that my colleagues had ordered for CNY. Total order - 24 bottles of London Almond, 23 bottles of Honey Cornflakes & 1 bottle of Biggie Choc Chip.

Apparently my order list did not go arnd the whole branch as some of my colleagues were asking me why I didn't inform them that Im taking the order. I hv actually assigned the ordering to Candy & acc. to her she did go around & ask everyone. So those who did not order was asking if I could take in their order.

Well, I reluctantly rejected them coz there is no time I could finish their order as the new year is creeping close. I apologise & promise them that I will ask them personally next year (hahaha, provided I hv time & willing to take up the task)

Movie Review - Surf's Up

Me & HB watched this CD at home yesterday. I tell you, it was a hilarious show. Do watch it if u have the chance.

Review:

Penguin Movie with Ugly and non-cute penguins! That was my first thought. now? Still ugly penguins, but rather cool movie. Uh~ why? Because Surf's Up all about Surf Up! Surfing!!!

Its really cool you know. Movie style was rather like a documentary/movie research style. So there's interviews on the cartoon characters, mics, backstage crews' voices etc. Kinda fresh type of presentation for animations.

Surf's Up is a short and light movie. What's really nice about the movie is really the surfing! And Chicken Joe! When the penguins surf under the 'rip curls', the curling waves, its as though you are the penguin and you can sense the water enveloping you like the walls and ceiling. How cool can that be!!!

Sense of humour and digs on human are common tricks used a tad too much too often in modern animations. But i do like chicken Joe! He's cute, simple, loyal, and funny! His scenes with the aboriginal penguins are especially so funny especially how he became friends of these penguins from the initial ingredient of the penguins' supper.

Penguins surfs, thats cute but chicken that surfs?! totally awesome!!! Some tricks to steal a smile from you are aplenty, cant reveal them here can i? Haha. But seriously, I think the penguins looked pretty cute!! But the little penguins are forever and ever, so CUTE!!!

So as I mentioned above, do watch the movie if u can squeeze time out of your busy schedule.

But wait! That’s only 20% of what you don’t have. Don’t throw away the 80% that you already have! That’s not all. Add to your spouse’s 80% the 100% that represents all the years that you have been with each other.

I guarantee you’ll be miserable for the entire trip! Don’t live your life like tat. Forget about what the world says is first class. Do you know that there are many first class passengers who are miserable in first class – because they are not riding in a private Jet?

The main message?

If you start appreciating what you have right now, wherever you are, whoever you are, well, you are first class!

Salam everyone....

This entry will be abt my attachments at Tanjong Pagar Br (2 Jan - 7 Jan) & Coleman Br (8 Jan - 14 Jan) which I hv just completed.

I was assigned to do bulk cash at Tanjong Pagar. My buddy, Jelin was also new as cash officer but she was okay & fun to work with. I was assigned to bind the cash on my 1st day there. Ok, that was easy as I had done it before. So I guess my week there will be breeze but Jelin warned me that Monday will be a very very busy day as there will be lots of money coming in from customers. I was fine with binding tonnes & tonnes of cash by now, I was prepared.

Come Monday, there wasn't much to do right after the Branch opened for the day. So I was chit chatting with Jelin until the teller said that Mr XXX has arrived. Jelin looked at me & told me to be prepared. Mr XXX brought a huge suitcase with him & inside the bag, there was like pieces & pieces of $50 notes. Jelin told Mr XXX to pass the notes to me instead of the teller & asked me to count all the notes & bind them accordingly. I hv to hand count the notes in case there is other deno which get mixed up. After that I hv to use the machine to recount the notes. It was quite fun at first to do the counting, pretending that I am counting my own money & thinking of all the wonderful stuff I could buy. Wishful thinking...

Anyway, halfway thru I was feeling nauseating & feel faint. I started to cough as my throat itch. Not too sure why I felt that way. I counted the cash till Im done & I hv counted, by myself, a whooping $625,000/- in total. I have NEVER in my entire life counted such a huge sum of money all by myself. It was irony - who has never dreamt of having that huge sum of money. Imagine having all those money kept at home & u are surrounded by them. But I tell you it was no joke after counting that much money, I prefer cashless notes. At the end of the day, I was really feeling sick that I did not come to work the very next day.

Other that that, the week breeze in quite smoothly till the end & then I was off to Coleman Branch.

At Coleman Br, I was assigned to do hands-on on BA system & learn abt remittances. Buddy, Cecilia was nice too & she explained all I need to know abt remittances. As for BA system, I wasn't able to do hands-on (again!!!) as the Branch was quite crowded & the teller do not hv the time to teach me one-to-one. So I juz had to watch & try to memorise. So far so good - managed to get a grasp of the system & hopefully I will be more familiarise with the system.

So next, Im off to Joo Chiat Br again. Yes, I was previously attached to this Branch on my 1st assignment. After that I will be taking my deployment test on 22 Jan.

CNY Cookies For Sale....

Salam.....

Its the time of the year again as Chinese New Year is just arnd the corner - on 26th & 27th Jan to be precise.

And as usual, my colleagues will be ordering our Honey Cornflakes & London Almond Cookies. This time round I added another cookie in the order list. Its the Biggie Choc Chip (which is also nice & crunchy). So far the order for the first 2 items is good, but not so for the Biggie Choc Chip though.

Anyway, I will only start my baking this weekend & hopefully I will be able to deliver it latest by 23rd Jan. Its gonna be a little difficult since Im already at a different branch. I guess I will have to deliver it after work.

Overall, Im still glad that my colleagues liked my cookies & as usual the bulk of the order came from Bobo & she's also the one who suggested that I make the cookies for sale. Thks Bobo for yr confidant in me. I hope we keep in touch.

Salam...

It's been a while since I last blog. I am still under attachment to various branches - but I don't wish to blog abt that now.

I was looking thru my pics folders & saw lot of pics which I took on various occasions.

Here are some pics which I took during my aunt Lila's family day @ S'pore Science Centre sometime in June last year. I did blog abt that topics & put up some of the pics taken. But currently I was 'introduce' to a certain software & I think I had fun time 'playing' with it.

Here's some pic of us having lots of fun @ Snow City. Its actually my 2nd trip there. We almost didn't want to go coz the Q was super duper long & it was almost 6pm, I guess. We had a long day earlier - due to the crowd & the hot sun. But at the same time, we didn't want to waste the $$$ spend on the tixs, so we Q till it was our turn. Aunt Lila said that she's definitely is not going to play coz she's kind of afraid of height. So she told us to go ahead & have fun. See how happy everyone is!!!

Well, Aunt Lila finally decided to join us, after we persuaded her several times. Well, I must say she did well, altho her face was quite pale on the way up (if u can see from the pic below).

Overall, I must say we had fun, lots of fun. We hope we could do this again, but of coz if Mum & Aunt Lila was ok to go again (well, you know, we are worried abt their well being too).

I was ultimately flattered one day when an acquaintance of mine told me she thought I had the best marriage she’d ever heard of. Just moments earlier she had been listening to me as I rambled on like a schoolgirl about how fabulous my husband is. 'How long have you been married?', she questioned, assuming we were newlyweds. 'Seven years', was my reply. I’ve had many such reactions to the happiness and stableness of my marriage since that time. Even though I am not a marriage counselor or a doctor of psychology, I seem to often be put into that light once people hear me talk about my relationship with my husband. 'How do you do it', is their primary question. At the request of a few friends, I’ll frankly answer that question. Based strictly on my own, personal experience I will relate to you what I consider to be the cornerstones of a marriage - at least my marriage.

It’s Difficult to Recognize Someone if You Don’t Know Who You’re Looking For.
I had been thinking about my husband since I was 15 years old. Sure, I had teenage fantasies about our wedding and honeymoon, our house and our kids. But I also had been thinking about what kind of person my husband would be. I considered how he would treat me, the ways we would be alike, and the ways we would be opposites. I knew who my future husband was when I met him because I knew the kind of person I was expecting. It took me many years to find my husband. The funny thing is we spent a lot of time in the same places but never ran into each other. From reminiscing about our younger days, we both found out that it’s a good thing we didn’t! It's difficult to recognize someone if you don’t know who you’re looking for.

How Do We Play This Game?
I can’t count how many times my husband and I just sat out under the stars before we were married and discussed 'Life Issues'. We would ask questions such as, 'What would you do if…' and 'How do you feel about…' We talked in depth about situations, likes and dislikes. We brought up things about our families that we didn’t appreciate. We spoke about what personal characteristics we considered as strengths. We got to know each other. Our conversations centered around more than inquisitions about a favorite food or favorite color. While we did ask those questions, too - many of our talks were about the issues of daily living. Basically, we set some ground rules and boundaries.

The Deepest Human Need Is to Be Appreciated
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I truly appreciate all my husband does for me. He listens as I blow off steam about the way I was treated at the drive-thru window. He takes out the trash without being reminded. When the laundry basket is about to overflow, he sorts and starts the wash. He never complains if I don’t feel like cooking or cleaning (he just jumps in and does it himself). The neat thing is, he appreciates me just as much. He always says, ‘Thank you’, for the food in his lunch box each day. He always tells me how much he appreciates me doing the grocery shopping. He gives me praise for keeping the house clean all the time. We truly are members of the Mutual Admiration Society. Every human being on the face of the earth has a deep need to be appreciated. Don’t take for granted that your spouse knows you appreciate the little things they do each day. Tell your husband, ‘Thank you’, when he mows the grass. Let your wife know how much you admire the fact that she can take care of 2 kids and still have a hot meal on the table at 6:00 sharp. Showing each other how very much you appreciate them is a foundation of not only marriages, but relationships in general.

Fuss But Don’t Fight
I can count on one hand the number of true ‘fights’ my husband and I have had in our seven-year marriage. We’ve had four. And I remember exactly what each one was about. I also remember that each one came into being because one of us was too tired or too sick to be in any mood to discuss anything. Don’t get me wrong. We disagree all the time. But both my husband and I understand that people will have differing points-of-view. We understand that calling names, pointing fingers and raising voices won’t help us get to a solution or compromise any quicker. When we have a difference of opinion we talk about it. Yes, sometimes one or both of us get frustrated and fussy. But generally speaking, we don’t fight. We listen. I have found, for us anyway, fighting doesn’t resolve anything. We work better together if each person is able to state the way he or she feels and why. Once that’s understood the answer or solution is usually pretty clear. You don’t have to always agree, but try not to fight. Do always listen.

Listen To the Radio That’s right, the radio.
Every couple of months I’ll hear a new song on the radio that reminds me of my husband. I allow myself to get all wrapped up in emotions as I listen to the words of the love song. I think about my husband. I visualize us walking on the beach or dancing under the stars. I fall in love with him all over again. Music has a special way of conveying a message. I often find that I’ll hum the new tune for several days after hearing it, and each time I do I think of the love of my life.

Realize That You Are Two Separate People
My husband and I are very different in many aspects. He is the outdoorsy type and I prefer air conditioning! He likes to sit and relax on the porch and I like to go out for dinner. We are two separate people who have individual interests. We understand that and, more importantly, accept it. It simply isn’t wise to put any person in charge of your happiness. You must be happy with yourself before anyone else can be. I am responsible for my actions, my attitudes and my happiness. My husband just enhances those things in my life. There are many things about my husband that I would like to change. I know for a fact that he has a list of his own when it comes to certain things about me. People are just different. In a marriage, you can allow those differences to be strengths or weaknesses. We prefer to play on the differences and use them to lift our marriage to higher ground rather than drag it into the dirt. Be happy with who you are as a person, and then try to find promising ways to utilize the differences to your collective advantage.

Live By the Golden Rule
You’ve heard it before, ‘Do unto others as you would have others do unto you’. Think of what you’d like to get out of your marriage. Then project those things onto your spouse. If you would like to receive more encouragement, encourage your mate. If you want him to appreciate you more, show appreciation to him. Most people respond in the manner in which they are addressed. Chances are if you greet your husband each morning with angry words and a sarcastic tone, you will receive the same in return. Treat your spouse the way you want to be treated and the same will return to you multiplied many times over. I could go on for pages and pages, but these are the basic principles that have made my marriage what it is today. Every married couple is different. Find what works for you and your mate.

...yes, my attachment at Tampines South Br was cut short. I was supposed to be attached there from Mon till Sat. However, I was only there till Tuesday only.

Well, here's the story - I was supposed to do hands-on on the cash on Tues. But as the crowd at Tampines South Br was rather heavy, the cash volume was high. I was worried so I highlighted this to my mentor, Irene. So Irene & the Manager was discussing on whether to allow me to try the hands-on on my own or otherwise. Apparently the Manager wasn't comfortable in letting me handling the cash since I had no experience. After a phone call to somewhere, she decided not to let me handle the cash & instead I was asked to 'comb' the Q. I'm fine with that & it makes my job easier.

At arnd 5pm, Irene told me that she has rec'd an email from Linda (who is in-charge of deploying staff who is due for transfer) stating that I hv to meet her at Head Office (HO) at 6pm. So I went off & head straight to HO. Went up to meet Linda & we discussed my 'issue' again. I told her that I'm not ready to handle the cash on my own & if possible to extend my attachment so that I will gain more confident in handling cash.

So she agreed to extend my attachment & starting from Wed, I will be attached to TanjongPagar Br doing bulk cash till Sat. I'm not sure where I will be attached then coz I hv not seen my schedule yet. And my deployment test which was schedule on 6 Jan09 will be defer. Linda also told me that I will be officially transfer out from Ctr Br wef 5 Jan09 & my base branch will be at Joo Chiat (altho she mentioned that she will need to finalised the arrangement).

Sometimes, I felt like a ball, being kick everywhere. But on a brighter side, I take it as something new & for the good of future career advancement.

My colleagues kept sms-ing me & asking when will I be back to Ctr Br. I miss the crazy bunch of pple there. We became friends after working together for so long & the comfort zone is always there. You know u can always depend on them - be it relating to work or having fun after work. The thought of starting all over again irks me but I guess I hv no choice. I will keep reminding myself to stay positive.

Well, I think I'll stop here & will keep updating abt my new job scope....

New Year resolution?

Most pple would hv a list of resolutions they want to achieve. As for me, I too have plentiful of resolutions to achieve but among those in the list, I've only one aspiration to accomplish & that is to achieve my dreams, or rather my hopes.

I know it’s going to tough - juz like the saying,” When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.” [Im not quite sure who said that]

Anyway, the only resolution I had is to be a better & happier person, a good daughter, an understanding sister & a faithful wife in life. It sounds like it’s going to be quiet tough - but hopefully it’s for the better. Small sacrifices make the whole lot of difference.

I am looking forward to 2009. Looking forward to appreciate myself & the pple arnd me - especially my beloved hubby, looking forward to start my own family. Looking forward to a new & positive working environment. Looking forward for a healthier me. Looking forward to a brighter star & hopefully the star shine brightly to my dreams, hopes and my life. And it’s a whole new beginning of new hopes & dreams to achieve & live every moment with love & peace!

The Muslims will be celebrating the new Hijrah year 1430H on Monday, 29 Dec08.

Here's some information of Hijrah which I obtained from the web.

Hijrah means migration. The Hijrah refers specifically to Muhammad’s flight from Mecca to Medina, which occurred in 622 CE. Muhammad’s teachings were not well received in Mecca, which ironically became the most holy of cities to the religion of Islam.

With his followers, Muhammad fled to Medina, called Yathrib at the time, and the Islamic religion likely owes its survival to the Hijrah. In Medina, the teachings of Muhammad gained a larger, and much more receptive audience. Thus the Hijrah is to many the time at which Islam becomes an established religion.

Medina did allow the fledgling Islamic adherents to raise their children in relative peace, and to develop the principles that would govern their society. Further, Medina allowed Islam to mature and gain strength as a community. This resulted in a mature and active Islam that would soon be an extremely strong force in the area now called Saudi Arabia.

For this reason, the Hijrah marks the beginning of the Muslim calendar each year. The Muslim calendar is based on lunar cycles, which makes it difficult to correspond with traditional Gregorian calendars. Thus, the date for the beginning of the first month of the year changes annually.

In fact the calendar of Islam is often called the Hijrah calendar, because of its legendary start. Muslims do not technically celebrate the “New Year” as it is done in the Western world. However, the beginning of the Hijrah calendar is a time of reflection on the strength of Islam, and on one’s own life.

Today the term Hijrah may not only refer to “the Hijrah” but also to any migration that allows one to raise one’s family in a more Islamic centered culture. Hijrah can also signify striking off on a new path that allows one to become a better person. A person who has committed acts considered sinful might make the Hijrah to a life free of sin. Thus the Hijrah can be either a physical or spiritual migration.

Hi peeps....how hv u been??? Hope every one's fine & are enjoying the last few days of 2008. Hopefully the new year will bring in more luck, better health & abundance of happiness to each & everyone.

So, here I am again - successfully completing my 3rd attachment at SMU Br. I really learnt a lot from pple here, especially Stella who is very very nice & very very helpful. What I like abt her is her unselfishness. She taught me more than I expected - almost everything in juz 2 days. Well she talked very fast but she will ensure that you understand her before she move on to another topics. She has even printed out the notes & reference that I will need for my next assignment & for future reference. It is so hard to find pple like her nowadays. I don't know but to me she is the sort that is willing to learn everything which benefit her & to everyone arnd her.

I did asked her numerous questions pertaining to my new assignment & she patiently explained everything to me, sometimes even with extra information. She even told me that when she was learning her current position back then, her so-called mentor told her to find the information & process herself!! I thought that her mentor is self-centered, inconsiderate, self-obsessed & whoever that person is, he/she ought to be shot....OOooppsss, looks like I got carried away here.

Well, back to Stella, she promised herself that she wont be similar as her mentor & she will try her very best to help anyone who approach her for help. She even remind me to call her shld I encounter things which I may not know. Such a nice lady right....I will remember her dearly or maybe I shld recommend her for some staff award. That might be nice.....

My thanks to Edwin, Belinda, Sab - who are a nice bunch of pple, ohh, also not forgetting Anne, Lingling & Randal....

My next attachment will be at Tampines South Br till 5th Jan. After that I will be taking my exam & will wait for my deployment.

East Coast Br - 2nd attachment done....

And yes, my 2nd attachment at East Coast Branch officially ends today. I like being attached to this branch too.

Again, the staff were nice - especially Mr Tee & Judy who is both very nice & very willing to teach me. I asked them numerous questions abt their job & w/o fail they have given me answers. Im truly grateful to them. CSM, Ms Ang is also a nice lady.

The only negative point of the area is that no variety of muslim food except for an Indian shop at the end of the road which sell very limited choice of food - roti prata & nasi briyani. Unless u are willing to walk, you can go & have lunch at Marine Parade food centre.

So, my next attachment will be at SMU Branch.

I went for my Branch Christmas dinner on Wed, 17 Dec. This time round the organisers held the dinner at our Recreation Club. It started off well until the game started. The 1st game was stepping on balloons - a warm up game. But we were making a hell lot of noises that we are to stop any rowdy games immediately otherwise they would not allow us to use the Rec Club. So we played something-like-a-charade game. This was quite fun too.

Anyway, I will have another dinner to attend on 22 Dec @ Furama Hotel, some International Indonesian Buffet restaurant. But this time round, only 'selected' pple will be invited. Hmm, actually only those staff who has either left the Branch or the Bank - its just like a get together for us.

Joo Chiat Br - 1st Attachment done....

Ok, so my 1st attachment to Joo Chiat Branch officially ends today.

I quite like the branch there. It was quite a refreshing scene from the usual thing I did. The staff that I was attached to, Wina was also very nice. She is new & hv been with the Bank for over 6 mths, but she is very willing teacher. She answered my queries patiently even tho I kept asking her again & again. Other staff like Mr Lim, Eileen, Peggy & the rest of the staff was also very helpful. And the best part is - I did not encounter any nasty customers at all. It is so unlike those cust we had at my Branch. I dont mind if Im being transferred there.

On Friday, I attended the cashiering module course. Initially I was rather confident that I can manage my cash. I tell you - it was H.O.R.R.I.B.L.E. & I was so stressed up at the end of the course. My confidence level was totally ZERORISED.

I was lucky enuf that other participants who are very experienced cash officers are willing to show me the ropes, but I guess at the rate Im going, it will be a disaster.

Maybe I shld reconsider the transfer & opt for internal transfer instead. At least I'll get posted to dept.

Haiiizzzzz.....I think I just carry on with the attachment first. And at the end of the attachment, I will consult my Manager on whether I shld proceed or otherwise.

And right after that I will have to take a deployment test, after which I will be deployed to a Branch if I pass the test....

Stress...stress...stress...Pening kepala adik....

This morning, as usual I went to work. Right after the Branch was open, my Manager asked, "Nana, what r u doing here? Aren't u supposed to be on attachment?" I was puzzled coz altho she had spoke to me abt the transfer, there wasn't any confirmation on when it will start. So off she went to check her email & there was an email dtd 4 Dec08 informing her abt my schedule. Well, she overlooked & told me to go to the other branch rite away coz they are expecting me there.

And so I had to complete the 'handover list' to my partner, Kenneth. However, he's on project training today so Im not able to do a proper handover. Since this is the case, I cant go over to the Branch as expected.

And so words got around & everyone is asking why do I have to be attached elsewhere & not at the present branch. My heart felt heavy to leave when almost all my kakis gathered around me & wish me luck.

I've made nos. of friends over 12 yrs at Centre Branch & Im definitely gonna miss them. I'll be back on 17 Dec08 for the Branch Christmas celebration.

I arrived at Joo Chiat Branch at 4.40pm, and the Branch was already closed for the day. I was attended by relieve CSM, Eileen. She introduced me arnd to the staff & briefed me abt the Branch do & don'ts. Since there isnt anything for me to do yet, she let me off early at arnd 5.40pm. I guess I was lucky I was attached to a branch which is near to where Im staying - dont have to waste travelling time...well then, I'll stop here for now. I shall update the progress of my attachment in due course.

Arafat in Mecca, the Islamic Holy Land, to perform the major rites
of the annual pilgrimage. This falls on the tenth day of Zulhijjah, the
12th month of the Muslim calendar. Hari Raya Haji is a day to
commemorate this religious occasion, and to honour pilgrims
who have completed their Haj to Mecca.
It’s a joyous affair, filled with festivities and cheer to welcome the
return of the assiduous pilgrims.
The highlight of the occasion is the sacrifice of an animal
as a mark of gratitude to Allah (God).

I still remember clearly the day when we were at Mecca performing our Haj in Yr 2005. I believe my Mom & sisters misses the place as much as I do. We would like to visit Mecca again if time & money permits, Insya-Allah.

This year, I didnt follow my Mom for visiting. Instead the half of the day was spend at the hsptl, visiting my FIL. Darl & me went to hsptl arnd 5pm. It was a cold weather as it was raining non-stop. Earlier on Hubby & me prepared some food as my FIL had wanted to eat hari raya food, so we prepared beef rendang, chicken curry & roti kirai.

Both my SIL & family were already at the hsptl when we arrived.

All of us left the hsptl arnd 8.30pm & we headed straight home. We were tired & hubby was having muscle ache. I guess he was feeling too tired from the daily visits to the hsptl, with not enuf rest & sleep. He took some medication & went to bed.

Hope that he will get well soon.

Stressed Out !! Big time...!!

I’m stressed out. Yes. Super stress out.

With a high chance of me being transferred out from my branch aka my 2^nd home & a brand new job scope coming out soon…I’m left with no choice but to accept the fact that I have to go thru all that….and many more other issues…

My sore eye is getting better, although some itchiness/irritations at times…

My FIL is still in the hospital. He’s admitted to SGH since 25^th Nov till todate. His condition is not too good either, and acc. to the doc, he’ll be at the hospital for a few more weeks. Well I guess we’ll be celebrating Aidiladha in the hospital. Alahai…pening liao

There are more impt decision to make after my FIL is discharge…Alahaiiii, laaaaagi pening kepala hamba…..

My other half is also not doing well, aching all over as he needs to be at the hospital almost every day…with not enuf rest & sleep…Poor dearie. Sometimes I wish that I could do more for him…

I’ll be attending some courses next week & Im worried coz I’ve never done it before. I don’t even have a grasp of the basic knowledge of cashiering…..aaRrgGhhhh…that’s the cashiering part & there is the operation part & many many other parts.

Let's juz hope for the best...I might get a transfer to a Sunday banking branch. Its not a choice but at least I will be doing something new & different.

Im currently at home, trying to get some housework done - the laundry, the ironing, the cleaning of the hse, etc...

Hmmz...Super multi task. Heee. I’m not grumbling here, just that my brain is still thinking how I am going to manage my new task at work. I will have to remind myself again & again to stay positive, at least.

I’m super worried. I’m super drain. My heart is beating fast. Worst, whatever I tried to do or remember, this freaking mind is somewhat disoriented & it is not absorbing in my brain systems.

Grrrrrr...I need help. But where is it?

Maybe I just need more time to rest & I’m no longer young plus my energy is depleting.

Muahhahahah....Nevertheless, I’m not giving up.

My new renovated branch will be open to public today @ 1st Dec. I was looking forward to the opening this morning. We had to come back yesterday for some training on how to use the new equipment & how to handle customers' queries, etc. The new branch was nice (of coz it is nice after spending 'millions' to revamp the whole place). We had to report to office by 8am today.

However, when I woke up this morning, my left eye was stuck together. I had difficulty opening them. When I manage to open it, the whole eye was so red & swollen. I had eye infection & I was juggling on whether shld I go to work & then see a doc later or skip work & see a doc immediately. My officers had warned us days before not to take leave or MC on the opening days as we foresee that the branch will be busy. But if I went to work with the sore eyes, Im afraid that it will be infectious to others. And end up, more pple will be away from the office.

So I sms-ed to Ms Sim & told her abt my condition. I asked to be excused so that I can go & see a doc. She replied me a while later & said Ok. I hv informed my colleague, Kenneth abt my condition too.

So I went to the doc @ Acumed Medical & saw Dr Foo. I thot that he was the nicest doc ever. A young & friendly doc. And I was diagnosed with acute infectious conjunctivitis & he gave me 2 days MC! He told me that it is infectious & since Im in the front line, he advised that I take a good rest & the eye shld be well before I get back to work.
(note: The attached is only an image & it is an example of how my eye looked like at the moment, a pretty gross sight.)

I was glad that I hv 2 days of MC, but the pain on my eye is unbearable - its itchy & sometimes had a burning sensation arnd it. I had to put on the eye drop every 2 hours.

Hope that my eye will be better tmrw (minus away the itchiness & swolleness).

My Hubby & I had dinner at Earle Swensen's @ Vivo City today, to celebrate his b'day. Nothing grand, juz the 2 of us having a quiet dinner.

This is our 2nd time there & we ordered the same thing we had the last time. We ordered Crayfish & Seafood Pasta, Fisherman's Catch & together with this meal, we had all-you-can-eat salad buffet.

The Crayfish & Seafood Pasta that we shared

(filled with mussels, shrimp & fish fillet in rich tomato sauce, served in large pan)

Fisherman's Catch - Breaded fish fillets, King Prawns, calamari
and ocean green mussels coated in different batters, fried golden brown,
accompanied by U.S. fries and tartar dip.

And of coz, not forgetting the All-You-Can-Eat salad buffet.

We had a full & satisfying dinner. Afterwhich, Abg & I decided to catch a movie - Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.

Story:
All of the lovable characters are back – Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe & Gloria the Hippo, King Julien, Maurice and the penguins – in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. They find themselves in the wildest place of all – the vast plains of Africa – where our zoo-raised crew encounter species of their own kind for the very first time.

We are moving again....

It will be a busy week at my office. Remember that 3 mths ago I mentioned that my office are undergoing a major renovation works? Well, the renovation is almost completed now & we will be moving down again this weekend – yes on both Sat & Sun!!!

There goes my rest day!!!

But luckily there wasn’t too much things to pack (since we had no luxury of extra spaces or cabinets to keep things). I kept very limited stock of my stationery as I hv moved most of them to my ‘warehse’ in the basement. So whatever left to pack on my desk will have to wait till Sat rite after the bank closes.

I don’t really fancy the new seating arrangement though – well, there’s good & bad point:-
- One, we no longer has a ‘private room’ as before – a place we can relax & munch titbits. Almost everybody loves to be in that room coz there’s plenty of food (when pple are generous). Oh, I don’t have my radio too.
- Two, we can’t have our private & dirty jokes. This happens when all corrupted mind & brain combines. Or when everyone is so stressed out & overworked. We always have a good hearty laugh after someone cracked some stupid or dirty jokes. And oh yes, it is also a place to vent your anger & frustration too.

So, soon Kenneth & I will be seated alongside the other officers in the backroom. Good thing abt it – maybe I will get to learn in more in-depth abt operations, rather than sticking to juz one ‘expertise’. Times are bad, need to re-learn other things so that I can be more ‘flexible’. I’ll be more nearer to the pantry & the loo, don’t need to walk a long distance. Get to know other colleagues closer.

Anyway, it is still too soon to elaborate more. We shall see how things turn out after we have settled down. It will be a busy week ahead – with the packing, moving, unpacking & setting up our new workstation. And with Christmas coming, it will be busier. Then we would have our Branch annual Christmas celebration cum dinner (not sure if we gonna have one though, must see budget)…then comes the New Year & very soon without u realizing, its CYN…la la la la.

Had a short break & BBQ over the weekend at Costa Sands Resort @ Downtown East. I & my sis have been planning this for sometime before & finally we did it. There is some hesitation at first coz we don’t know if it would be a success.

Anyway, we hv asked these few pple to join us - Aunt Lila, Shan wif Adik & Abg, Sila wif Arin, Ayu’s fren - Haziqa, Helmi & my HB. It was a fun day to look forward to. Lina checked in to the chalet on Fri, 14 Nov with Mom, Ayu & the 2 tots – Danniel & Dewi.

I wasn’t able to take the day off from work so I had to wait till after 7pm before I could join them. I was rather excited for the whole day. While at work, Lina sms-ed & asked if we shld do some BBQ at nite. Im in for it & so it was decided that we would hv a BBQ.

I reached Pasir Ris at almost 8pm. I thot that the fire shld be ready by then. But lo & behold, the 2 ex-girl guides - Lina & Ayu were still ‘struggling’ to build the fire. I took over from them even tho I wasn’t an expert (I was once a Girl Guide too, you know…).

Well, I did my best & finally we had a good fire roaring steadily (hehehe…that was after a little help frm our ever resourceful Mom). So we start BBQ-ing the chicken that Mom & Lina had marinated the day before. We also had some stingray with sambal, sausages & crab meat. It’s been awhile since we had bbq-ed. I think the last bbq I attended was 2 yrs ago.

So u see, the excitement is overwhelmed. Too bad my HB is not arnd as he has to look after my in-laws. We stop bbq-ing at arnd 10pm…very tired & tomorrow is another day for us.

Hope tomorrow will be a day fill with fun & laughter.

Mom & Ayu had to leave early to go home coz Mom had to prepare some sponge cake for her friend & Ayu had to buy some last min stuff for her Taiwan Trip. So it was juz Me & Lina with Danniel & Dewi.

Our plan for the day is to bring the 2 tots to Escape Theme Park [ETP] or Wild Wild Wet [WWW] for some fun & games. Lina had 4 free entry passes to either ETP or WWW. Lina wanted to try the WWW, but we hv no suitable attire, so we decided on ETP.

However, Aunt Lilah, Sila & Arin came early at arnd 11.30am. Aunt bought fried rice, mee goreng & she has marinated some chicken for us too. Thanks Aunt, it was nice of you to cook us the food. We had some lunch & rested a while before going to ETP. We only have 4 tixs (for 2 adults & 2 children) – so we need to purchase 2 more adult tixs. The thing is an adult tix cost S$14.70 (NTUC member) each.

We tot is too expensive since my aunt wont be playing any of the rides available. So it was decided that my aunt will bring Arin back to the chalet & take some nap. But we had a surprise when we purchase the tix as it only cost half of the actual price. The sales person said that it was bcoz of some promotions going on.

So we went in & took all these rides - Choo Choo Train / Ferris Wheel / Kite Flyer / Bumper Boat & Flipper

End at abt 3pm…went back to chalet & Shan was already there with Aunt & Arin. We washed up, rest & get ourselves prepared for the BIG nite… Oklah, this will be a long entry if I were to elaborate more. So I shall stop here & enjoy the pics..

SiGghh...Almost everyone I knew – personally or acquaintances are PREGNANT – be it 1st child, 2nd or 3rd …… Im happy for them, honestly.

But a HUGE tinge of jealousy is IN ME & Im feeling the pressure now. Maybe we don’t try hard enuf or maybe I don’t prayed hard enuf….Maybe I shld proceed to the next step.

Maybe I shld…aRrgGhhh…..there has been a few false alarms before…to my disappointment. Like what my confidante said – don’t give up & try & try again...hmmm

My Syawal this year isn’t as fulfilling as yesteryear coz I didn’t manage to visit several of my aunts’ & relatives’ houses.Times are really short & I can only do visiting only on weekends. And since Im married, I have to divide my times.

Some of my relatives lived arnd the same area – say for example, Jurong/Yishun. We had wanted to cover these areas, but some relatives were not at home as they were out visiting too. So to return back to the same place another week would actually ‘interrupted our plan’ (if u know what I mean). Hence I would like to say sorry to all my relatives that I haven’t had the time or opportunity to see or visit yet. May your family be in good health & happiness forever.

Anyway, I finally managed to get some of the pics from my sis’s camera taken during Syawal 2008 & some from my own camera. So enjoy the pics & till my next upate….

Of being friends & getting pregnant...

It was a public holiday yesterday due to the festive Deepavali. I met up with my sec school mates – Ayu, A’zeezah, Norisah, Yan, Liza & Zahidah. There was supposed to be another friend, Rai but she couldn’t make it due to work commitment. It’s a pity, we missed her. Anyway, the gathering was at Ayu’s abode @ Punggol Ctrl.

Before the day, I was looking forward of meeting them. Its been awhile since I last saw them. I often told myself that I want to meet up with them as often, but somehow that doesn’t happen. We were so bz with work & when weekends comes, we are often occupied with housework & other stuff. All of us hv built the friendship since abt 16 yrs ago. So I make it a point to meet up with them in this gathering.

Reached Ayu’s place at almost 3pm (although we hv agreed to meet up at 1pm). We were late coz Yan was preparing some food for us, it took her more of her time than expected. Zahidah & family was abt to leave when we arrived. Zahidah – she is still the old Zahidah, full of laughter & crankiness (if I may quote). And she is 6mths pregnant with her 3^rd baby. I don’t even know that she has a 2^nd baby, a girl. I hv heard that she has a 2^nd child, but Im unsure abt it. The 2^nd child is now 9mths old. Im happy for her. But too bad we don’t have the chance to sit down & talk more as she & her family need to rush for another gathering elsewhere. We must arrange another gathering soon.

The other mother-to-be is Norisah who is 5mths pregnant after almost 3 yrs of marriage. Im happy for her too…and as what Yan has said, d spell has been broken. Sorry, Im not going to elaborate what spell Im referring to, it’s just a thing that we had since eons ago. Well, hopefully, the baby bug will soon reach us…

So at Ayu’s place we had a little makan session, thereafter, we sat down listening & enjoying each other company. We updated each other of our lives. It is a nice feeling juz doing that. How I wish we could do this often.

We were occupied listening & updating to each other that we don’t really take much photos – I only managed to take these 2 pics for the day….as for the rest, Im just trying out my creativity with my new camera, Sony Cybershot...

To All Married Couples and Singles Who Intend to Get Married

When I got home that night as my wife served dinner,I held her hand and said, I've got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observed the hurt in her eyes.

Suddenly I didn't know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the topic calmly. She didn't seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why? I avoided her question. This made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, you are not a man!

That night, we didn't talk to each other. She was weeping. I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage.But I could hardly give her a satisfactory answer; I had lost my heart to a lovely girl called Dew. I didn't love her anymore. I just pitied her!

With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement which stated that she could own our house, 30% shares of my company and the car. She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. The woman who had spent ten years of her life with me had become a stranger. I felt sorry for her wasted time, resources and energy but I could not take back what I had said for I loved Dew so dearly.

Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had expected to see. To me her cry was actually a kind of release.The idea of divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer now.

The next day, I came back home very late and found her writing something at the table. I didn't have supper but went straight to sleep and fell asleep very fast because I was tired after an eventful day with Dew. When I woke up, she was still there at the table writing.I just did not care so I turned over and was asleep again.

In the morning she presented her divorce conditions:she didn't want anything from me, but needed a month's notice before the divorce. She requested that in that one month we both struggle to live as normal a life as possible.. Her reasons were simple: our son had his exams in a month's time and she didn't want to disrupt him with our broken marriage..

This was agreeable to me. But she had something more,she asked me to recall how I had carried her into out bridal room on our wedding day. She requested that everyday for the month's duration I carry her out of our bedroom to the front door ever morning. I thought she was going crazy.

Just to make our last days together bearable I accepted her odd request.

I told Dew about my wife s divorce conditions. She laughed loudly and thought it was absurd. No matter what tricks she applies,she has to face the divorce, she said scornfully. My wife and I hadn't had any body contact since my divorce intention was explicitly expressed.So when I carried her out on the first day, we both appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, daddy is holding mummy in his arms. His words brought me a sense of pain. From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door,I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes and said softly; don't tell our son about the divorce. I nodded, feeling somewhat upset.

I put her down outside the door. She went to wait for the bus to work. I drove alone to the office.

On the second day, both of us acted much more easily.She leaned on my chest... I could smell the fragrance of her blouse. I realized that I hadn't looked at this woman carefully for a long time.I realized she was not young any more. There were fine wrinkles on her face, her hair was graying! Our marriage had taken its toll on her. Fora minute I wondered what I had done to her.

On the fourth day, when I lifted her up, I felt asense of intimacy returning... This was the woman who had given ten years of her life to me. On the fifth and sixth day, I realized that our sense of intimacy was growing again. I didn't tell Dew about this. It became easier to carry her as the month slipped by. Perhaps the everyday workout made me stronger.

She was choosing what to wear one morning. She tried on quite a few dresses but could not find a suitable one. Then she sighed,all my dresses have grown bigger. I suddenly realized that she had grown so thin, that was the reason why I could carry her more easily. Suddenly it hit me; she had buried so much pain and bitterness in her heart.

Subconsciously I reached out and touched her head.Our son came in at the moment and said, Dad, it's time to carry mum out.To him, seeing his father carrying his mother out had become an essential part of his life. My wife gestured to our son to come closer and hugged him tightly. I turned my face away because I was afraid I might change my mind at this last minute. I then held her in my arms, walking from the bedroom, through the sitting room, to the hallway. Her hand surrounded
my neck softly and naturally. I held her body tightly; it was just like our wedding day.

But her much lighter weight made me sad. On the last day, when I held her in my arms I could hardly move a step. Our son had gone to school. I held her tightly and said, I hadn't noticed that our life lacked intimacy. I drove to office... jumped out of the car swiftly without locking the door. I was afraid any delay would make me change my mind... I walked upstairs. Dew opened the door and I said to her, Sorry,Dew, I do not want the divorce anymore.

She looked at me, astonished. Then touched my forehead.Do you have a fever? She said. I moved her hand off my head. Sorry, Dew,I said, I won't divorce. My marriage life was boring probably because she and I didn't value the details of our lives, not because we didn't love each other any more. Now I realize that since I carried her into my home on our wedding day I am supposed to hold her until death does us apart.

Dew seemed to suddenly wake up. She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears. I walked downstairs and drove away. At the floral shop on the way, I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my wife. The salesgirl asked me what to write on the card. I smiled and wrote:
'I'll carry you out every morning until death do us apart'

The small details of our lives are what really matter in a relationship. It is not the mansion, the car, the property, the bank balance that matters. These create an environment conducive for happiness but cannot give happiness in themselves. So find time to be your spouse's friend and do those little things for each other that build intimacy. Do have a real happy marriage!

New Addition to The Family...

Introducing a new member to the family, meet Niki...our 2nd pet kitten who is 1.5 mths old. He's an adorable male kitten whom we have adopted from Ms Toh, the kind lady who had found Miko previously.

Initially we had wanted to adopt a black kitten named Blackberry, but due to some 'rejection', we decided to take Niki home instead. Niki's name was Skippy, but he doesn't really respond to the name when we called him. So we named him Niki after considering several other names. Isn't he handsome with all those stripes & I simply loved his eyes - he looks as if he's using an eyeliner!!! Im sure he'll grow to be nice & beautiful cat. And he's friendly too.

In abt a weeks’ time, the mth of Syawal will be here. The culmination of Ramadhan, a month-long fasting period and a time for abstinence, reflection & worship.

Yes, I am all excited for the celebrations of Hari Raya. However, on the other hand, I do feel a little down - Im not goin to mention this in my blog, afraid that I might offend someone I love. I guess I juz have to take it in my stride & try to enjoy myself. Afterall, Hari Raya is all abt celebrating with all your love ones - whether they are near or far away from you. I must be thankful that all my loved ones are still arnd with me.

Anyway, the festive songs are being played on the radio & Im simply delighted by juz listening to the songs. It brought back happy memories when we are still young & innocent...collecting green packets with money, travelling arnd to relatives' houses, meeting uncles, aunties, couzins & everyone else. I missed those days...

It will be as simple as possible, given the current economic 'status'. Its better that we dont splurge too much money on unnecessary stuff. Of coz, if given the choice, we do want to change all new items for the house. But we dont do that coz we wanted to save for more better things for the future.

This Weeks' Update...

Hey peepsss, Im back again...this week seems like a a long week for me. And it seems like the time never moved or rather it juz stop at a certain time of the day. The work in the office has been non-stop!!! Im dead beat by the time I got home.

So, here's an update for the past 1 week.

16 Sept08

I was at Mum’s place last Tuesday. I haven’t seen my Mum, my 2 sisters & the 2 tots for almost 3 weeks now. Usually I went over to visit them at least once a week. But as mentioned in my previous blog, both my in-laws were not well. And at anytime either me or Abg need to be arnd at home.

Well, Mum was in relatively good health, Alhamdullillah, except for the pain in her leg. Lina was a little down with flu & Ayu is occupied with her GCE ‘O’ level revisions. I hope that Ayu won’t feel too much of the pressure. With Hari Raya arnd the corner, I hope that she will be able to concentrate on her studies. And I hope that she will do well in the exams.

Me & Abg went down to Geylang Serai on Wednesday to buy the ingredients for the cookies. First stop we went to McDonalds to break fast. After that we went arnd the Bazaar for a while before heading to TKC to buy the ingredients from the shop there. Didnt manage to buy all the ingredients though. So we continued browsing arnd the Bazaar all the way until I couldnt walk anymore. As usual, there's nothing new to see - just the same old products over & over again. Went off from there & reached home arnd 10 plus....

I couldnt be home on time for break fast on Fri coz we had a meeting in the office. My manager said that our leaves & off days are to be freeze from 30 Sept to 6 Oct. And this is due to the Growth Dividends (GD) cheques. She mentioned that the chqs will be posted out to S'poreans on 29th Sept. There will be pple who would have rec'd the chqs by 30th & we are expecting a super long Qs in the bank.

So how now? Im supposed to take leave from 29th onwards.....If Im not able to take my leave, I'll have some problems then. Maybe I'll have a talk with my Manager & explain my situation to her. I hope she understand & will let me take my leave. Wish me luck.

It was almost 7 plus when the meeting ended. So I went to break my fast with my colleague, Azimah. Abg called me afterwards & asked if I wanted to go to Geylang Bazaar again. I agreed since I dont have to work on Saturday. Met Abg at Paya Lebar MRT...and we did our rounding again all the way to Joo Chiat Complex. We bought a few items for the house & we headed home soon after.

At Mom's place today to bake my cookies - London Almond Cookies & Biggie Choc Chip....I had an order from a colleague, Kak Ros. I actually dont have the time to bake for her, but since she has personally asked me to do it, I relented just for her. She has ordered 3 bottles of London Almond Cookies & 3 bottles of Honey Cornflakes.

Im still awake as of now...coz Im still baking my cookies. It has always been this way ever since forever...I only have this weekend to do my baking. Maybe next week I'll do the marketing to buy the food items to cook for Hari Raya. Menu for this year, well...stay tune...

He's only a month old when we brought him home.
He's so small & skinny.

He's only 7 mths old but he look more like an adult cat.

We have to change his name soon - Fat Miko or Garfield....
as he look more like it...hehehe

Today would be Dad’s 59^th birthday if he’s still around.

A special day for him…

We would celebrate it…but it will be juz another day,

as per our normal usual routine.

I miss him. I may never said it to him personally while he's around,

But deep down in my heart I love my Dad.

My Dad held 2 jobs so that he can earn more money,

So that his family – Us will live life comfortably.

And because of that he was never really around when we grew up.

But I respected him for that.

Deep in my heart, I wish that he is still around to enjoy his old age, to enjoy his life

& to be my Mum’s companion for a very long time…

But what is gone cannot come back to life.

I know & we all can rest assured he is in better place. Insya-Allah.

Alhamdullillah, today is the 15^th day of Ramadhan. Only 15 more days to go until we celebrate Hari Raya.

And I have not done any preparations yet. I haven’t even bake my ‘signature’ cookies – London Almond Cookies & Biggie Choc Chip yet. Thought of baking them over this weekend at Mum’s place. And I shld start buying the ingredients now…soon

I don’t really hv d mood to bake this year…I have baked enuf for CNY this year. A lot of my colleagues ordered these 2 cookies from me, until I cant take it anymore, but of coz the profits are lucrative.

And now a colleague of mine wanted to order my cookies & my sis Honey Cornflakes, soooo, I’ll bake some juz for her.

I hv not been to Geylang yet…and that is so not acceptable coz on previous years, I would have gone down several times already.

This weekend in out coz I may be at Mum’s place and so that left me with the last weekend of Ramadhan which will be busy.

Well, we need to clean the house & do whatever is necessary.

M.I.A. Yet Again...And Back In Action Now...

Hiya peeps….it’s been such a long time since I last logged in & penned down my feelings - anger, frustration, sadness & all those feelings when at times u are unable to xpress it openly.

And in this blog, we are free to say things & stuff…juz to ease ourselves... Well, I guess Im back again after a 2-mth hiatus & time sure flies by like a rocket.

It’s the 8^th day of Ramadan today. Alhamdullillah, everything went quite well so far.

And since it's been a good 2 mths since my last entry, a lot of things has happened arnd me – good & bad…Well, let me give an update of what’s happening This gonna be a very very very lengthy entry (don’t say I never warn you)…so here goes....

I was kind of hook on to Friendster. I hv found some old frens from my primary, sec & Ite school. Its been good to find them again. I hv send messages to them to keep in touch & I hope that we can, seriously. You can visit me at Friendster here.

I had a new colleague, Irene who was transferred from another Branch. I like working with her (and yes, Kenneth, I like working with u too)…juz bcos well, we can click. It’s not easy to find someone who u can click with so well. And I don’t normally share with someone whom I hv known for a little while something personal like family matters, etc. Being able to work with the same ‘species’ who can click is good bcos we can ‘gossip’ & chit chat of something we can relate to each other. I can relate to her easily although we had known each other recently.

But sad to say, she has resigned. She had to leave the job coz her 2 girls are still small, aged 4 yrs & 15 mths. And our working hours here are actually a hindrance to her as she needs to fetch her 2 girls from her mum place everyday. And when there is a need to stay back, her hubby wasn’t too happy with it. So she was given the option to leave her job or to trf to a place nearer to home. Since there isn’t any vacancy nearby to her place, she has to take the next best option. All the best wishes to her & I hope we can stay in touch too. Goodbye Irene, and its nice knowing you. And thanks for being there & listening to me.

My office is undergoing a major renovation in mid Aug, so we are now very very busy packing things up. I hv tones of stuff to clear & it’s simply annoying when some pple are there only to show their presence & to give orders & nvr intend to give a lending hand at all. We can clearly make do w/o these idiots – where I think they are simply - redundant. This whole place looks like its been wrecked by a tornado....

We are going to move up to a 9^th flr on 16th Aug, where the floor area is abt half the size of our banking hall. And mind you, currently we only have 60+ over staff. And when we move up, we are gonna share with over 100 staff. I juz can’t imagine how crowded it will be. Hopefully, all will turn out just fine.

I was on 2 days MC on 6^th & 7^th Aug due to Upper respiratory tract infection, very the cheem rite. In simpler terms I only have sore throats & I lost my voice. And of coz I had a very bad cough as well. I took leave on 8^th as I still wasn’t feeling well enuf to work. And since National Day is on the 9^th….its another day off for me...hmm, seems like Im on a long leave, 5 days to be exact. It was a good break for me, I guess.

My father in-law (FIL) has been unwell for the pass few mths & on 20^th Aug, he was admitted to CGH. My FIL is already 70 yrs old & I pitied him for having to go thru all those complications. His kidneys are not in a good condition & had to underdone dialysis immediately. He was admitted to MICU (Medical Intensive Care Unit) for almost a week. He was later admitted to normal wards after his condition stabilizes. But he was transferred to SGH on 27^th as his kidney doc was based there. My FIL was kinda in a ‘critical’ condition, but alhamdullillah, he managed to pull thru & he was allowed to be discharge last week. He’s recuperating well at home now. So hopefully, he will be better then before.

And just yesterday my mother in-law (MIL) had seizure. She had suffered a minor stroke abt 1.5 yrs ago & she is currently taking medication for that. We all thot that she has suffered another stroke yesterday & it was such a fright for us. She was admitted to CGH & Alhamdullillah she was alright & was rather alert. Hopefully that she will recover soon, Insya-Allah.

Ok folks, I guess I hv penned down almost all of my 'happenings' throughout the past 2 mths.

Hi peepsss....the title of the entry says it all - I was working on Saturday & it was one of the most boring Saturday ever!!! It was a very quite morning, altho there was a few cust in the Q. I was abt to fall asleep when I decided to keep myself awake by taking pics with my trusted Hp - SE W910...lalalala - pics taken arnd my workstation, the office premises, & of coz pics of MOI (if u dun like what u c, u knw what to do lah yeah...). Enjoy....

Abg called me arnd 12noon, & asked me if I wanted to go to Vivo City. Hmm, why not - afterall there's nothing much to do anyway...So I met him arnd 2pm plus & off we went to Vivo City.

1st stop to Daiso - I find that Daiso is a shop with a unique combination of dollar and convenient store, carrying over lots of household and lifestyle products selling only at S$2. We bought several items frm there.

Next stop, to Pet Lovers Centre to get Miko's biscuit, Iams.

By then, it was almost 6pm & both of us were hungry. So while deciding where we shld to eat, I had a sudden craving to eat Swensen's baked rice - and so off we went to Earle Swensen's & we had these for lunch-cum-dinner.

Crayfish & Seafood Pasta, Sticky Chewy Chocolate (for Me), Strawberry Stripes (for Abg)

We shared the pasta as the Menu says 'Good-4-Two'...well, true enuf, the quantity of the pasta is quite generous, seafood ...well, you will each get 2pcs of medium-sized prawns, 1pc of mussel & half portion of crayfish. But the taste is marvelicious - the pasta is cooked just nicely & is well-coated with the sauce. We enjoyed the food.

Last stop - to Giant to get some stuff & thereafter off we go to Home Sweet Home.....

Dinner @ Swensen's & Midnite Movie....

We had our branch dinner at Swensen's @ Plaza Singapura today. Quite a number of us turn up for the dinner – abt 50 of us. The dinner is made possible with contributions from our ops staff that had their promotions last Apr & sale staff that has rec’d fat commission for their good sales fig.

The idea of contributing funds to our branch ‘piggybank’ starts with our previous Manager. So those who has just got promoted & those sales staff who did well in their sales & rec’d good commission was asked to contributed some funds to our branch ‘piggybank’. These funds will later be used to organize dinner – be it in the branch itself or out in a restaurant.

The ‘organizers’ had wanted to organize a trip to Kukup last May, but the response was not that good. Reason is because we have already gone to Kukup once in 2006. Some suggested Malacca trip – but the idea is not feasible either. So the idea of a trip & dinner has been ‘ding-dong-ing’ here & there for months now…and finally it has been decided – a dinner at Swensen's.

The dinner is also in conjunction with those staff that has been transferred out & new staff who has join in…..

Reached PS Swensen's arnd 8pm...We were told to order our food a week ago bcoz of our big group – all 60 of us. Well, its a good idea coz we were there for abt 10mins & our food arrived shortly after. And these is what I had...of coz I don't eat all these foods by myself - we shared....

I left arnd 10pm & went straight to Tampines Mall where Abg & I catch a 11.50pm show - 'You Don't Mess With The Zohan'.

Abg rented 2 movies yesterday – The Bucket List & Jumper. We didn’t manage to watch the movies previously, so we went on a 'movie marathon'...

Overall, it was quite a good show. For The Bucket List, it was a good & decent tag team effort by 2 legendary veterans (Jack Nicholson & Morgan Freeman). It teaches us about life, a friendship that touches our emotions & feelings.

As for Jumper, Hayden Christiansen was ohhh, so cute...And the idea of "jumping" is really neat & being able to teleport oneself from one place to another is really fun. If only this could be done in reality...

David's unique abilities place him in the middle of a war between the jumpers and the paladins, a secretive group intent on hunting down the teleporters. Led by Roland (Samuel L. Jackson), the paladins track David and fellow jumper Griffin (Jamie Bell) across the world, and Millie may be caught in the crossfire. JUMPER moves as fast as its teleporting hero, condensing the novel into a slim, action-packed offering.

The slick special effects and impressive locations are certainly on par with Liman's previous work in THE BOURNE IDENTITY and MR. AND MRS. SMITH, but JUMPER bears a closer resemblance to comic book adaptations. Like Spider-man and most other costume-clad protagonists with unearthly abilities, David grapples with his newfound talents. But unlike his tights-and-cape-wearing brethren, David doesn't use his ability for the greater good. Instead, it gets him piles of money and, perhaps, the girl he's been dreaming of since he was five years old. Though most action films are driven by the struggle between good and evil, JUMPER interestingly offers up a central character who lies somewhere in the middle. Oh yes, btw, I forgot to mention that bcoz of the family day, we are not able to catch the movie 'You Don't Mess With The Zohan'. We are supposed to catch the 7pm show at Suntec 5 @ Eng Wah Cinema. But bcoz of the delay at Snow City, we decided to give the show a miss....Maybe we'll watch it next time.

Luckily I got the tix at a discounted price...Well, anyway, nothing can be done now, I'll give the review next time then....

Family Day @ S'pore Science Centre

The event was held at S’pore Science Ctr @ 21/06/08. Pick-up point @ Tampines MRT station @ 9am. All 10 of us – my mum & 2 sisters, me & Hb, Shan & her 2 tots - Danniel & Dylia, Sila & of coz, the organizer herself, Aunt Lila were there before the pick-up time. But unfortunately, the bus that was supposed to pick us up broke down, so we had to wait for another bus. The bus finally came arnd 9.30am & we were on our way to Science Centre. Don’t know abt the rest of them, but I felt like going for a school excursion…it reminds me so much of school time.

It was already quite crowded when we finally reached Science Ctr. There was a Dinosaurs Alive Exhibition on the front foyer & everybody was taking pics – well, we don’t want to miss out the fun, so we took pics as well. Danniel was quite afraid of the dinos as there were movements & sounds coming out from them. It looks & sounded almost real!!

We went in to the Science Ctr & browse arnd a little before proceeding to the Ecogarden where the event was held. The event started & soon it was lunch time. After we had collected the food, we went to the garden to have ‘a picnic lunch’. Lunch was a simple bento set & an apple. We had fun & took several pics. We saw monkeys & the monkeys in our group – Lina, Ayu, Mom & Shan [they are all born in the Yr of Monkey] was excited seeing them…hee3. Oh yes, we even saw a squirrel up in the tree. After lunch, we went up the Tree House & took some pics.

After lunch, we hang arnd at the event place before all of us headed inside the Science Ctr for some air-con. And we went exploring. Let the pics do the talking yeah....

Next stop – to Snow City…we were very excited coz we get to play with snow again!! The last time we came here was 6 yrs ago & Aunt Lila has never tried sliding down the slope, she’s afraid. But we tried to coax her into trying it. The Q to the entrance of Snow City was super duper long...but we waited patiently. And soon it was our turn to go it...soo excited...We put on the boots, jackets & gloves & went in to the coolest place in S'pore...

Overall, we had fun, although we were feeling very shag at the end of the day, its the time that we spend with our loved ones that really counts...that is what I think....

Kung Fu Panda

Abg & me went to watch Kung Fu Panda yesterday at GV Tampines. It was a light-hearted & funny movie. We have not been watching comedy show for a long time since eons ago...so watching this movie is very entertaining (minus those parents who have brought along their kids). But then again, its kids' show.

Anyway, Po (the big, a little clumsy but enthusiastic panda) was the biggest fan of Kung Fu...and he was unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy where he has to study Kung Fu alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five—Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey—under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu.

Po has to learn the skills of Kung Fu to defend everyone from the oncoming threat from the vengeful & treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung. Will he succeed in defending himself against Tai Lung? Well, you have to watch the movie to know the rest of the story.

Next show I want to watch - You Don't Mess With The Zohan...played by Adam Sandler & Rob Schneider. So, till my next movie show....

Hi peeps....it's now almost 6am & my eyes are wide open. I cant sleep, so I might as well update my blog. Have u notice that I have change my blogskin? It takes me quite sometime to choose a new blogskin that works. I hv found some nice ones, but whenever I tried to change in the layout, it can't be done bcoz of a missing code...its so frustrating until I found this blogskin designed by Rini Aisyah. I would like to thank her for this skin. I spend more time to update & include the widgets. So far so good & Im quite satisfied with the overall design.

Hmm....wait till I find another free time to do a new blogskin. But it won't be too soon, coz I might be bz with other stuffs...Till the next time, see ya....

An old fren found...

It’s has been a while since I write my own entry. The past few posts were something to share with. Well, you see I was clearing the emails in my office and while going thru the contents, I find that some of them have beautiful meaning; hence I forwarded them to my personal email.

Okie, some updates from me…..

An old classmate of mine from primary school, Zarina was actually looking for me in Facebook. And subsequently she emailed me thru my office email & was wondering if I am the one that she is looking for from this school. I was of coz very surprised as I had no a/c in Facebook. I don’t even remember registering to Facebook & put in my office email address. It was only much later that I realized I hv actually registered in when another classmate of mine invited me to join Facebook. That was when I registered in.

So I replied to Zarina that Im the one that she is looking for….She replied me again the next day that she was very happy that she’d found me at last after so many years. Mind you, I hv known her for over 20 yrs….Zarina is now married for 4 yrs now & has 2 kids. Time really flies…Well, I guess I can make use of Facebook to find other classmates which I hv lost contact with…maybe I might be lucky & will be able to find them like how Zarina found me!! Hee3…wish my luck!!!!
